It must be lots of fun bringing kids to the snowy world. I will also bring my 5-year-old boy to Tomamu to ski. Can you advise on the following: 1. Which hotel (Tower / Villa Sports) do you recommend? How did you book the room? 2. Is there any special package for room + lift + spa + skis rental? Do you think it is worth going to the big pool? Yen2,500 a day? 3. Is there a lot of fun in the kids park? Do you think a kid need to buy lift ticket? 4. Any recommendation on the restaurant? Do you know if a 5-year-old boy need to pay for room, or pay for buffet? 5. Any advice to us since this is our first time to Tommau. Many thanks. Stephen Ko
[版主回覆10/02/2009 09:42:00]Thanks for your visit.
1. Villa Sport is bigger than Tower. I book the room via yoyaku@slowtomamu.co.jp . You can also visit http://www.snowtomamu.jp/winter2010/english/hotel/frame.htm . We have booked the Galleria Suite Tower this Dec since they have special package for Room + Spa but until Sept 30.
2. As for the package, you can send email to ask. If you have time, should go to the pool. My son was 4 years last year and play happily there. Yen2,500 included fee to Open-Air bath, so should have a try.
3. No need to buy lift ticket.
4. No need to pay for the room, breakfast or buffet if child is under 5. We have tried Nininpuri last year, actually the taste of the food is so so, but because my son is free, so we try. We may try the Japanese restaurant located in the Tower in Dec.
5. When will you go? You should also try the Ice Dome Village.

stephennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646567287309043816.post-32427899187462827222009-10-03T10:16:00.000+08:002009-10-03T10:16:00.000+08:00Hi, thanks for your advice. Is it convenient to stay there, or better with the Villa Sports? It seems that the Galleria suite is expensive. Did you get a bargain deal booked before Sep 30? I noted you went to Tomamu for a couple of times. Can you comment on the following activities? 1. Kids park - any entrance feel for adult/child? From the site, it seems that there is a special 'lift' taking people up the slope. Is it true? 2. Ski school / winter activities for children 3. Dog sled, banana ride, hot air balloon Please be excused for my long list of questions. But I feel so excited to have advice from an expert. Thanks. Stephen
[版主回覆10/05/2009 10:15:00]Oh, don't call me expert, I am not, I just love Japan. We have ski, tried the Snow mobile and the Ice Village before. We did get a special price for Galleria Suite as we booked in early Aug. Since the date we choose is not high season, so we can try Galleria this time. Normally we stayed at Villa Sport because it has a wide window and bigger size room and also can walk to Viz Spa House (2-3 mins). I have not tried The Tower before, so cannot comment.
1. Kids park is free for kid/adult. More info from this but only in Japanese: http://www.snowtomamu.jp/winter2010/ski/family_kids/kids_park.php
Yes, there is a gondola take people up to the highest slope. I have asked them before. They said it's for skier in winter time. In summer time, people can take that up to the hill to see the cloud. So we have not tried since I am afraid I cannot ski down the slope.
2. Ski school is located in the Resort Centre. You can book in advance via ski@slowtomamu.co.jp . Last year we booked a private lesson for our son but he only tried less than an hour (may be too small, he just turn 4 and he love to make snowman). It cost us Yen8,000 for one hour lesson ( Yen 4,000 rental for 5 hours). Total is Yen12,000. So this time we may not arrange the private lesson for him but may just rent the ski set and let him try. Better wait for our younger son to become bigger and they can learn together.
3. We have not tired this before. Since you will stay for 2 days, you can have a try. As for the snowmobile, we found that the one in Snowmobile Land ( http://www.snowmobilelandsapporo.com/website/index.html ) is much better (of course expensive) than the one in Tomamu.
stephennoreply@blogger.com
